All you need to know


By entering the Fun Run you are deemed to have read and understood all the following:

Mini Run

  • The Lions will take reasonable precautions but cannot be held responsible for the safety of every child
  • There is no entry on the day
  • You must register your child in advance preferably on-line whilst you are entering yourself, or separately
  • Two runs
    • years 3 & 4 – 11.00am
    • years 1 & 2 – 11.10am
  • Start under the arch on opposite side of the field to the Start/finish gantry
  • Run anti-clockwise to the gantry – c. 400 yards
  • Parents wishing to run with children line up behind the rest
  • Receive free T-shirt when picking up running number from 9.30am
  • After run receive certificate of achievement
  • Prizes for the winning boy & girl in each run

Fun Run

  • There is no entry on the day
  • No refunds or transfers
  • You must register in advance, preferably on-line with any combination of other runners
  • The c. 5.2 mile run consists of 2 laps for Junior, Secondary, Adult, Veteran & Super-Veteran
  • The one lap (c. 2.6 miles) is for Juniors only
  • Juniors must decide whether they are entering the 1 or 2 lap run before entering, and cannot change
  • 2 starts
    • Club runners and previous fast times – 12.00pm
    • All Juniors, fun & fancy dress runners – 12.05pm
  • If you wish to run with someone enter the same time of the slower runner
  • View your previous times
  • Running numbers, timing ‘chips and T-shirts must be collected from 9.30am
  • Attach numbers to the front of T-shirts
  • Wind timing ‘chip around shoe laces
  • Timing ‘chips carry your personal details and are not transferable
  • Timing ‘chips are not re-usable and no longer have to be handed in at the finish
  • Your time is recorded as you pass over the start and finish mats
  • There are also mats after 1 lap
  • Unless you record 3 times you will not receive a timing and be deemed not to have finished. 1 lap Junior runners only record Start & Finish times
  • Times will be electronically recorded & merged for one overall result
  • Changing facilities are available in the Sports Hall.  Please bring a bag for your clothes, which remain your responsibility
  • After run receive certificate of achievement

Individual Trophies

  • 12 individual trophies – male and female for
    • Junior – School Years 5 & 6 (one lap) male and female
    • Junior – School Years 5 & 6 (two laps) male and female
    • Secondary – School Years 7 – 11 male and female
    • Adults – ladies up to 39, men up to 49
    • Veterans are ladies between 40 & 59, men between 50 & 59 on the date of the Run
    • Super Veterans – 60 and over on the date of the Run
    • Local Residents trophy determined by B93 postcode
  • Class is automatically determined by the D.O.B. entered
  • Overall winner is first runner to complete 2 laps
  • No ladies overall winner, just by category
  • Full results posted on this website just as soon as possible after the event

Team Trophies

  • Maximum 4 entrants per team, enter as many teams as you like
  • All team entrants automatically entered for individual trophies
  • Give your team a name
  • 3 trophies
    • Walter Smith’s Trophy – any combination of runners but must complete 2 laps
    • Hunters Secondary Cup for Years 7 – 11
    • Lions Juniors Cup for Years 5 & 6 (2 laps)
  • Winning team – aggregate fastest timed (not highest placed) all 4 runners to count
  • Full results posted on this website just as soon as possible after the event
Fancy Dress
  • The Look Local Trophy will be awarded to the Fun Run entrant judged to have the best fancy dress
  • The Mini Run prize will be awarded to the Mini Run entrant judged to have run in the best fancy dress

The Costs

  • All costs of staging the event are covered by sponsors & programme advertisers
  • That means every penny of entry fee, sponsorship you collect or donate goes to the charities
  • Entry Fees are the same whether you register & pay on-line or otherwise
  • There are no refunds and no transfers
  • You will really help us if you do it all on-line

      • Adults, Veterans & Super Veterans  £13.00
  • If you are able to tick the Gift Aid box we can claim an extra 25% on your entry fee
  • T-shirts
    • Mini Runners free
    • Everyone else £8.50
  • Donations
    • Not collecting sponsorship – please consider a donation as you enter
    • Tick Gift Aid provided you pay enough UK tax to cover the amount reclaimed
  • Sponsorship
    • Print your form and start collecting pledges now
    • Make your sponsorship count – Collect it when you collect your pledges
  • Ensure sponsors tick Gift Aid and print full name, home address & postcode
    • For every pound we get an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue
    • They must pay enough UK tax to cover the amount reclaimed
  • Ask your employer if they will match the funds you collect £ for £
  • After the Fun Run – Pay your sponsorship into Knowle & Dorridge Lions Fun Run account with CAF Bank through any branch of HSBC Bank plc quoting sort code 40 – 52 – 40 and account number 00019285 by 30 June
  • Post your sponsorship form to Adrian Harris, 17, Hallcroft Way, Knowle, Solihull. B93 9ET to enable us to claim the tax on your Gift Aid. Also send the address of your charity if you have collected for one other than our nominated ones.

Safety and Parking

  • The Lions have £10million public liability insurance, not that we want to make a claim
  • Each year we review the risk analysis & consult with the Police & Council
  • As last year we anticipate closing roads and introducing a diversion route around the village for the duration of the run from 11.45am until around 2pm. This will provide a safe environment for the runners & spectators alike. We shall seek to minimise inconvenience to residents.
  • Runners must FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS OF THE POLICE & MARSHALS
  • Bring a pen to complete the emergency contact details on the reverse of your running number and advise the medical services of any MEDICAL CONDITION before you run
  • Water stations are located around the course, but carry your own water as well
  • Help avoid congestion around the school
  • With the increased popularity of the event
    • Leave home in sufficient time
    • Do not bring your car to the school
    • Walk, cycle, or jog and warm up, or at least use car parks in Knowle
  • Runners & spectators must take responsibility for their own safety, and of their children, and possessions

Data Protection & Photographs

  • Entering the event requires your personal details. The Lions will not pass this information on to anyone else
  • We shall use the email address you give to contact you with important information about the Fun Run. Please ensure it remains able to receive our emails
  • Your photo may be taken by K&D Lions or our agents and displayed on this website or elsewhere
  • Parents should be aware that entering their child in our event may result in images appearing in newspapers or websites
  • If you or your children are a winner photos may be taken and names may be published

On the Day

  • If you park a car on or within the course you will not be able to move it after you finish the Run, until the last runner has also finished and the roads are re-opened.
  • Toilets at the school are not designed for all 2000 runners to use simultaneously before the Run
  • You will be running out of the front of Arden School and along Station Road to the High Street
  • Running numbers, timing ‘chips and T-shirts must be collected between 9.30am and 11.00am
  • Bring a pen and complete your emergency contact details on the reverse of your running number
  • Attach numbers to the front of T-shirts
  • Thread timing ‘chip through shoelace
  • Timing ‘chips carry your personal details and are not transferable
  • Most important remember it is a Fun Run, enjoy it!
