Douglas says – Turn up and cheer

‘Come along to Arden school or line the roads closed to traffic around Knowle and cheer on the 2,000 runners in this year’s Knowle Fun Run this Sunday,’ say Douglas, the brand new mascot for one of the beneficiary charities fly2help, which offers an exhilarating flight from a Cotswold airport to the terminally ill, chronically sick and bereaved.

Please help ensure the runners enjoy a fantastic community atmosphere and cheer them on their two lap 5 mile run. Pop along to Arden school, bag a bargain at one of the stalls and enjoy a hot dog from the Walter Smith’s bar-b-que.

This year’s VIP Charles Hanson from BBC’s Bargain Hunt will get the Mini runners underway at 11 o’clock, with over 2,000 main runners setting off at 12 noon. Douglas, from fly2help, will be paying a flying visit together with the Parkinson’s UK tulip mascot and the Running Lion, to entertain the 300 Mini runners and posing for photos with over 100 teams of runners

‘For the third year the course will be traffic-free with road closures and diversions operational from 11.45am’, says organiser Arian Harris. ‘These will be kept to an absolute minimum and cleared as soon as possible. We apologise in advance should this inconvenience you and beg your understanding. Please remember this is only once a year and enables us to stage a superb community event, which involves the whole village, including all the schools and many clubs, raising over £40k for local and national charities in 2009.  One of which we all should be proud.’ See full details of the road closures

It takes months of planning and over 200 pairs of hands on the day to make the Fun Run happen, if you would like to get involved please email 2010@knowlefunrun.org.uk now.
