IMPORTANT INFO for ALL RUNNERS

Welcome to our Pre-Fun Run newsletter which was emailed to all entrants, it contains IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL RUNNERS – PLEASE READ IT ALL

Arrival

  • There is no parking available at the school. It will be at a premium in Knowle car parks. Why not leave the car at home and limber up by jogging to the school?
  • If you do come by car please park outside the course. If you are an early finisher and want to get away please do not park inside the course as you will not be allowed to drive within the route until 14.00 at the earliest.
  • If arriving by cycle please note that the old cycle storage racks are now decommissioned and new ones can be found at the extreme left hand side of the school (to the side of the Youth Centre building). Use a lock, we cannot take any responsibility for it

5 mile Fun Run

  • Bring your confirmation email with you. It will help us process your registration more quickly
  • You must pick up your chip and running number from the school hall – between 9.30 am & 11.00am. Desks split runners alphabetically by surname. If you ordered a t-shirt collect it at the t-shirt stall outside the hall
  • Bring a pen to write your emergency contact details on the reverse of your running number
  • Changing facilities are available in the Sports Hall.  Please bring a bag for your clothes, which remain your responsibility
  • Toilets at the school are not designed for all 2000 runners to use simultaneously before the Run
  • Only runners with Red numbers can start in the first start at 12noon. Everyone else, Blue (& Purple for the 1 lappers), must hold back by the PA stage for the second start at 12.10pm. It makes no difference to your recorded time. Start areas will be clearly marked
  • If you want to run with someone and you have different colour number, wait for the second start
  • Remember your chip is yours and yours alone, do not swap them with anyone else. We don’t want a Dad winning the Junior Girls race again!
  • Ensure you secure your chip around your shoe laces, and give it to the collectors at the finish. They are worth £8 each to us, so if you don’t finish for any reason be sure to hand it to the Lions at the school
  • You must record 3 mat times, one at the start/finish, one half way (by the Brooks arch) and one at the finish/start to record a finish
  • As last year runners exit Arden school via the front entrance turning right along Station Road to the High Street
  • Beware of speed bumps as you leave the grass and along the school drive
  • The roads will be traffic free so please run on the roads, not the pavements. Follow the Highway Code and keep to the left unless overtaking! The fast runners will want to pass you
  • Note that if you are walking you should walk on the paths and take care because the roads will be re-opened before you finish, as soon as the final runners enter the school fields
  • If you are a One lap Junior when you return to the playing fields be sure to keep to the RIGHT and head for the Finish line. Everyone else keep LEFT and go around again.

 

Mini Runs

  • Mini Runners must pick up their running numbers and free t-shirts outside the hall between 9.30 am & 10.30am to wear for their run
  • The Yr3/4 Mini Run (Green numbers) will start first at 11am and the Yr1/2 (Yellow numbers) at 11.10am – under the Brooks arch as usual and run anti-clockwise to the Start/finish line

 

Warm Up

  • This will take place in the middle of the field as usual at 11.45am

  • We shall publish the results as soon as practical on www.KnowleFunRun.org.uk

Finally

  • Most important of all please remember it is our Fun Run. Enjoy yourself, run, or walk if the need takes you, and if it hurts remember that you are taking part in Knowles’ biggest community event, and the day is not about winning, but raising money for good causes
