Information & Rules
Mini Run
- Registration closes 30 APRIL or 300 entries whichever comes first and to allow for free t-shirts to be ordered
- The Lions will take reasonable precautions but cannot be held responsible for the safety of every child
- There is no entry on the day
- You must register your child in advance preferably on-line whilst you are entering yourself, or separately
- Two runs
- years 3 & 4 – 11.00am
- years 1 & 2 – 11.10am
- Start under the Brooks arch on opposite side of the field to the Start/finish gantry
- Run anti-clockwise to the gantry – c. 400 yards
- Parents wishing to run with children line up behind the rest
- Receive free T-shirt when picking up running number at 9.30am
- After run receive certificate of achievement & other goodies donated by sponsors
- Prizes for the winning boy & girl in each run
- You may enter and name a team of mini runners but there is no competition or trophy to win.
Fun Run
- Registration closes 30 APRIL or 1800 entries, whichever comes first and to enable the timing microchips to be prepared
- There is no entry on the day
- No refunds
- You must register in advance, preferably on-line with any combination of other runners
- The c. 5 mile run consists of 2 laps for Junior, Secondary, Adult & Veteran
- The one lap (c. 2.5 miles) is for Juniors only
- Juniors must decide whether they are entering the 1 or 2 lap run before entering, and cannot change
- 2 starts
- Club runners and previous fast times – 12.00pm
- All Juniors, fun & fancy dress runners – 12.05pm
- If you wish to run with someone enter the same time of the slower runner
- View your previous times
- Running numbers, timing ‘chips and T-shirts must be collected between 9.30am & 10.30am
- Attach numbers to the front of T-shirts
- Strap timing ‘chip around ankle
- Timing ‘chips carry your personal details and are not transferable.
- Timing ‘chips must be handed in at the finish or otherwise returned to the Lions
- Your time is recorded as you pass over the start and finish mats
- There are also mats after 1 lap
- Unless you record 3 times you will not feature on the results listing for the 5 mile Run. 1 lap Junior runners only record Start & Finish times.
- Times will be electronically recorded & merged for one overall result
- Changing facilities are available in the Sports Hall. Please bring a bag for your clothes
- After run receive certificate of achievement and goodies donated by our sponsors
Individual Trophies
- 11 trophies for 9 classes – male and female for
- Wood Glaister Junior - School Years 5 & 6 (one lap)
- Junior - School Years 5 & 6 (two laps)
- Secondary - School Years 7 - 10
- Adults - ladies up to 39, men up to 49
- Veterans are ladies between 40 & 59, men between 50 & 59 on the date of the Run
- NEW for 2008: John Thackway memorial for Super Veterans – all 60 and over on the date of the Run
- Class is automatically determined by the D.O.B. entered
- Also the Local Residents trophy determined by B93 postcode
- Full results posted on this website just as soon as possible after the event
Team Trophies
- All team entrants automatically entered for individual trophies
- Give your team a name
- 3 trophies
- Walter Smith’s Trophy – adults & veterans
- Hunters Secondary Cup for Years 7 - 11
- Lions Juniors Cup for Years 5 & 6 (2 laps)
- Wining team – aggregate fastest timed (not highest placed) 3 runners from teams of 4 starters
- Full results posted on this website just as soon as possible after the event
The Costs
Safety and Parking
- The Lions have £10million public liability insurance, not that we want to make a claim
- Each year we review the risk analysis & consult with the Police & Council
- There will be rolling road closures for the duration of the run in Knowle High Street, Tilehouse Green Lane, Station Road from the Island to the High Street. There will be no parking in Milverton Road which will be closed all morning.
- We shall seek to minimise inconvenience to residents
- Runners must KEEP TO THE FOOTPATHS and BETWEEN THE MARKER TAPES, and FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS OF THE POLICE & MARSHALS
- Advise Red Cross of any MEDICAL CONDITION before you run
- Water stations are located around the course, but carry your own water as well
- Help avoid congestion around the school
- With the increased popularity of the event
- Leave home in sufficient time
- Do not bring your car to the school
- Walk, cycle, or jog and warm up, or at least use car parks in Knowle
- Runners & spectators must take responsibility for their own safety, and of their children, and possessions
