Update on last year's winners

6 of last year's winners (in the rain) are back to see if they can win again (in the dry - we hope).
Last year's Junior Boy 1 lap winner Luke James and sister Nathali who won the Junior Girl 1 lap are back with their famiy. Luke is hoping to retain his 1 lap title whilst Nathalie has moved up to the Secondary category.

This year for the first time it will be possible to get a record of your Fun Run in the form of a photograph taken by students from Solihull College.
With help from Frost's Photo Centre in Knowle we are able to offer every runner fortunate to be snapped a chance to go back onto our website and see just how well they were running.

When Enda Mullen underwent fitness training earlier in the Spring we challenged him to enter this year.

Porsche out in front with 4 teams

Setting the early lead by entering 5 teams for the adult team trophy we have Team Porsche Solihull.
e-on were the first company to start entering their teams. So far only one team completed, but we have big hopes for many more as the MD offered to give £5 to charity for every employee joining their team!
Last year there were a total of 97 complete teams entered including 7 secondary and 5 junior teams, so a long way to go yet. More >
New Timing Company

After 6 years with RaceAhead we have a new company - Race Timing Systems.
From the runners perspective the biggest change will be having to thread your own chip, which will have the same number on it as your running number. This will enable us to trace very runner who fails to hand in his/her chip. They still cost us £8 for every not returned so please ensure we dont have to send the collectors around to you.

TATA team double their money

Runners from Tata Consultancy Services have had their entry fees and sponsorship doubled by their employers which will add an extra £200 to the Fun Run charities.

Once again we have been hit by a last minute surge in entries which pushed the counter upto 1814, another record.
Whilst everyone's safety is our prime consideration we decided to increase the limit from 1700 confident that runners have withdrawn and not told us.
Also a last minute deluge of entries from Mums and Dads have resulted in a record 303 mini runners. We have ordered free t-shirts for them all

Where are they from?

A quick analysis of this years Fun Run entrants post codes reveals that over 40% of runners qualify for the Local Residents trophy & prize having given a B93 Knowle or Dorridge postcode.
In total over 72% of the runners will be from Solihull and a further 22% from Birmingham and the West Midlands, leaving 6% from all over England, a couple from north of the border and one jetting in from Switzerland.

Team to demonstrate martial arts

The Solihull Ran O Tori Martial Arts Club will be kicking their way around the Fun Run course this year. Hopefully they will be wearing their traditional dress and practicing the traditional styles of Shotokai Karate Do in their warm up for the race.

44 runners from Hampton-in-Arden Sports Club are running to raise much needed funds for the British Heart Foundation and the H-I-A and surrounding areas Recreational Trust.
The Sports Club lost one of it's stalwart members following a heart attack in 2005, and 44 of it's members are using this year's Fun Run to raise funds in his memory.
